The wedge distance test is a great way of measuring the average carry distance of wedge shots. Carrying out this test every couple of months will help to keep up to date with your wedge distances. It ensures that the Wedge Chart is as accurate as possible on the golf course.
Hit 10 balls with each wedge, using each swing in the Wedge Chart.
If you miss-hit one of the shots class this as an anomaly and hit another shot to replace it in the test. This is very important as an anomaly in the test may cause the results to change and make the test inaccurate.
Once you have all 10 shots, measure the distance each ball has gone and record them in a table.
Remove the longest and shortest carry leaving you with 8 distances.
Add the 8 distances together and divide by 8 to find the average, this will be the distance on your Wedge Chart.
Repeat this process for each swing to find the average carry of each shot with each wedge in your bag.

Once this test is complete, you will have an average distance for this shot. You can now record this into your Wedge Chart and update it where necessary.
