Spiral Putting Drill

The spiral putting drill improves consistency over short putts. It involves a mixture of distances of putts from 3 feet up to 10 feet. It tests putting from different angles and on different slopes, all to the same hole.

This is a great drill to use when preparing for a tournament. It is also good if you are wanting a quick bit of practice over reading putts and executing them.

All you need to perform this drill is 10 tee pegs, one ball and one hole. Use more than one hole if you want to test from different slopes on the green.

Start by putting a tee 3-feet away from the hole. This is where the drill will begin. Spiral the tees away from the hole, with a gradual increase in the distance of putts. Make sure you arent standing on the lines of the longer putts when over the short ones. Also ensure that none of the tees are getting in the way of the longer putts.

When the spiral is set up around the hole, go to the first tee peg and hit the put.

If the put goes in, move on to the next hole and repeat.

If the putt does not go in, remove the tee from the ground and lay it down.

Once you have attempted to hole each of the 10 putts, go back to anywhere that has a tee laying on the ground. Keep trying until you hole this putt.

The drill is finished once each putt has been holed once.

This drill is great for gaining a good feel for how the ball will move towards the hole from different angles. It will boost confidence when reading putts on the course.
